Subject: Holy Spirit SCRIPTURE: For this reason I remind you to keep alive the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead the Spirit fills us with power, love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 OBSERVATION: How do we keep alive the gift that God gave, which is His very own Spirit? The answer is that we stay connected to God every day. We live a life of Piety. We fill our days with the Means of Grace: 1.) time with God 2.) Prayer 3.) Scripture 4.) fellowship with members of God's church 5.) give a percentage to God 6.) Service using the S.H.A.P.E. God has given us and 7.) Worship. God fills us with His Spirit when we ABIDE in Him. His Spirit gives us POWER to do anything He wants... LOVE for God and our neighbors...SELF-CONTROL which is letting God have control of our lives. This is a wonderful GIFT of God. APPLICATION: I am often humbled by the thought that the Holy Spirit of God is in me, this very weak clay pot full of cracks and weaknesses and sin. Yet, I am also covered in the "blood of Christ", and am continually forgiven and remade and renewed by God. PRAYER: O Lord, I thank You for the Gift of Your very Spirit and the Means of Grace that help me to keep Your Spirit! Amen!! |

Subject: What It Is SCRIPTURE: Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is valuable in every way, because it promises life both for the present and for the future. This is a true saying, to be completely accepted and believed. We struggle and work hard, because we have placed our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all and especially of those who believe. 1 Timothy 4:8-10 (Good News Translation) OBSERVATION: Discipline sets us free. Physical exercise sets us free to walk-run-lift-bend-do anything physical that needs to be done whenever. Spiritual exercise [TIME with GOD - PRAYER -WORD - FELLOWSHIP - TITHING] sets us free to live abundantly in this world in an ongoing love relationship with God. Both give us the ability to fight the good fight - the hard fight for the living God and His Kingdom here and in heaven. Our Hope is in the living God, and our DISCIPLINE keeps us focused on Him. APPLICATION: This is my life in Christ. I practice the DISCIPLINED life. My physical and spiritual exercises keep me strong in the Lord. I love Him and desire to honor Him with my humble life. PRAYER: O Lord, I thank You for this FRESH BREAD, it is life to me! Amen |

Subject: Not on You SCRIPTURE: The spirit of the Lord came upon a Levite who was present in the crowd. His name was Jahaziel. Jahaziel said, "Your Majesty and all you people of Judah and Jerusalem, the Lord says that you must not be discouraged or be afraid to face this large army. The battle depends on God, not on you. 2 Chron. 20:14a & 15 (Good News Translation) OBSERVATION: Disciples trust God in everything, even to fight our battles. We are to praise Him with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength, as the people of Judah did. God will bring victory every time, if we let Him fight for us. It may not be the victory we want, but it will be the victory that He wants, and it will be what it must for His glory and His Kingdom. We are to also do whatever He tells us to do. When we are faithful and true, He always comes through. APPLICATION: I am always tempted to rush into battle, but my training and God's WORD reminds me to trust Him to fight for me and His church. PRAYER: O Lord, I surrender all of my battles to You to fight for me and bring VICTORY! Amen! |
