fbreadsSubject:  Praise and Thanks

SCRIPTURE:  "Thank the Lord for all the glorious things He does; proclaim them to the nations.  Sing His praises and tell everyone about His miracles.  Glory in the Lord.  O worshippers of God, rejoice"  Ps. 105:1-3

OBSERVATION:   We are prepared for worship of the Lord when we do just what this scripture calls for.  When we take time every day to sit down and reflect upon the events of our day.  We ask ourselves, where did we see and experience God today?  Then write in our journal each God event.  Describe it and expound on what it felt like - what it meant - what affect  did it have on us and others.  As we practice this daily affect/discipline, our hearts will be filled with praise and adoration.  Our lips will be filled with praise.

APPLICATION:  I have started to practice this discipline every day.  In the past, I have done this as part of my evening devotions on occasion.  When I did, my heart for praise of God was filled to overflowing.  I long to experience this wonderful praise of my Lord every day of my humble life:  to Glory in the Lord.  .  I claim this promise.  I know that when I turn and draw near to

PRAYER:  I magnify You, O Lord, with all my heart - mind - strength - soul!!  Amen!

Draw Near To God PDF Print E-mail
fbreadsSubject:  God Will Draw Nearer to Us

SCRIPTURE:  "And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you.  Wash your hands, you sinners, and let your hearts be filled with God alone to make them pure and true to him."  James 4:8

OBSERVATION:   When we long for God, to be near Him, to be in His very presence, He will draw near to us.  We are so unworthy of such a great blessing.  We are but "dust", sinners, weak, unholy.  Still God, the Creator, who holds the world in His hands, will draw near to us.  WOW!  But this is how God made us.  He gave us a "hole in our soul".  We have this desire, this want, this need to fill this empty place inside us.  We try many things, possessions, drugs, physical pleasures and on and on.  But only God can satisfy this hunger.  He will draw near to us every time we draw nearer to Him.  We will experience the very presence of God, right there by our side.  WOW!

APPLICATION:  I believe this.  I claim this promise.  I know that when I turn and draw near to God, that He draws near to me.  To sit - bow - prostrate myself in the presence of God, is an incredible reality to experience.  O, How it lifts me up and strengthens me.  Glory!

PRAYER:  Father God,  I long to abide in your presence all my humble days!  Amen!

What Does God Require? PDF Print E-mail
fbreadsSubject:  Walk Humbly and More

SCRIPTURE:  "He has shown you, O men, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God?"  Micah 6:8

OBSERVATION:  Man has always, through the history of man, been aware of God.  Every culture in every corner of the world, that has ever been, has a deity/religion.  Man has devised in their mind-memory-thoughts about God and who God is and what He does.  Man has made their gods out of wood, stone, fire, water, wind, earth and so on.  Man has created ways to worship God, to control God, to do what their God wants in their mind.  But there is only One True Living God:  the God of Abraham - Isaac - Jacob.  He has REVEALED to men, who He is and what His will is.  He desires that we do JUSTLY - love MERCY (lovingkindness) - walk HUMBLY with God.  There is no other life to live.

APPLICATION:  I live my life to honor God, whom I love with all my heart-mind-soul and strength.  To be HUMBLE in my Walk with God means that (1) I am gentle, but never weak, (2) I am bold for my Lord, but never brazen, (3) I am aggressive for my Lord, but never contentious and (4) I am poor in spirit, but never spiritually poor.

PRAYER:  I love You Lord, so very much!  Amen!

The Word of God PDF Print E-mail
fbreadsSubject:  Living & Powerful

SCRIPTURE:  "For the word God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword; piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and instincts of the heart."  Heb. 4:12

OBSERVATION:  The Bible is a Means of Grace.  When we read the Bible we experience God present with us and we experience God actually speaking to us - to our total being: BODY - MIND- SOUL/SPIRIT - RELATIONSHIPS.  But, also the Bible speaks to us about these same things concerning the people in our lives and the events going on in the world around us.  When we come to read the scriptures we need to prepare ourselves - to open ourselves to God's presence and to what He chooses to say to us.  We need to go to the Bible every day eager and humble and ready to receive what God in and through scripture chooses to make known.

APPLICATION:  I love the Bible - my Bible.  I love to "bake Fresh Bread".  I delight in studying the Word of God.  I listen to what the scripture says.  I meditate on its wisdom and obey - follow - live by it.

PRAYER:  Father, I thank You for the gift of Scripture!  I love Your Word!  Amen!

The Source of All My Joy PDF Print E-mail
fbreadsSubject:  God

SCRIPTURE:  "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.  I will praise God with my last breath!  May he be pleased by all these thoughts about him; for he is the source of all my joy."  Ps. 104:33 & 34

OBSERVATION:  After our "second" birth, we are no longer the same as we were before.  When we give our hearts to the Lord He gives us back a Servant's Heart.  We no longer live only unto ourselves.  We live unto and for the Lord.  We seek to give glory to Him and to His Kingdom.  There literally is a song of praise in our redeemed hearts CONTINUALLY.  It is true in verse 33, that we will sing to the Lord for as long as we live, even to the very last breath.  In what we think, say and do, we try to honor and please our Lord.  We have many joys in our lives.  All of them have, as their source, the Lord.  We then delight not in what the world has to offer only, but also in all things - every day - it is the Lord who gives us JOY.

APPLICATION:  I love God - my Heavenly Father.  I do try to please Him by my humble life.  I am so week - fractured - clay feet - yet I do what I can to honor my Lord.

PRAYER:  Father God, I love You so very much, all my days!  Amen!
