Fresh Bread
HUMBLE TRUST PDF Print E-mail
fbreads Subject:  Prayer of David

SCRIPTURE:   Lord, I have given up my pride and turned away from my arrogance. I am not concerned with great matters or with subjects too difficult for me. Instead, I am content and at peace. As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms, so my heart is quiet within me. Israel, trust in the Lord now and forever! Psalm 131

OBSERVATION:    The world is full of subjects, with issues, with controversies, with complex problems, with everything imaginable that can consume our minds and hearts.  Arrogance and pride say we understand/know/comprehend everything.  We are made of it all.  The truth is we are not.  It is a given that we ought to be thoughtful observers of all that is happening.  We ought to reflect and seek understanding.  But in the end we must conclude that we can not know it all.  And that only God can.  Humble trust says that we turn it all over to Him.  We must trust God completely.  We must seek the peace that a nurtured child has when on its mother's lap.  That is a sceme of total trust and contentment.  If we are to understand anything about events, tragedies, happenings, then we must seek the Lord's mind about each.  And further, we must trust God to deal with each.  In Fresh Bread we see our SOAP as a lens through which we see the world and ourselves through God's eyes.  Humble trust, now and forever, is what we live for and by in the Lord.

APPLICATION:  I have in recent days become more at peace with my life.  I go with God.  I follow in His wake.  I trust everything and everyone in my life to His watchcare.  Even my mind is really His - I serve at His good will and pleasure.  I do not understand it fully, but I am learning to trust my God completely and have peace.

PRAYER:   Hold me in your strong, loving arms.  Give me Your peace.  May the peace of Christ rule in my heart.  All my cares I give to You.  I love You!  Amen!!

WHEN WE SEEK JESUS PDF Print E-mail
fbreads Subject:  We Are Rewarded

SCRIPTURE:  So he ran ahead of the crowd and climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus, who was going to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and said to Zacchaeus, "Hurry down, Zacchaeus, because I must stay in your house today." Luke 19:4-5

OBSERVATION:   When we want something bad enough we are willing to do just about anything.  Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus.  He was too short to see over or through the crowd.  Now picture this; a man of wealth and perhaps some importance or authority, running through the streets and climbing a tree to see Jesus.  Jesus was that important to him that he would swallow his pride to run and climb.  Perhaps, he had heard of the new and fresh teaching of Jesus, how Jesus forgave sinners and touched and healed the sick and proclaimed a new Gospel - Good News.  Whatever it was it was enough to compel Zacchaeus to truly seek Jesus.  And he was rewarded.  Jesus knows our hearts' desires.  He knows when we truly want to be near Him to be with Him, to have hearts open to receive Him.  And when we do, He rewards us as He did Zacchaeus.  Jesus taught "seek and ye shall find", "knock and the door shall be opened unto you", "ask and it shall be given unto you".  God rewards all who earnestly seek Him.  He comes to stay in our "HOUSE" today, tomorrow and forever.

APPLICATION:  I have experienced what Zacchaeus experienced.  The Lord knows my heart and how I long for Him - to be with Him - to honor Him - to love Him through my obedience, in deed and in word.  I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He lives in my "House - my Heart and my Life".

PRAYER:   O Lord, I love You.  Help me to inspire others to seek you as Zacchaeus did.  Help me to convince others that You will stay in their "Houses" - "Lives" when they seek You! Amen!!

JESUS GIVES HOPE TO ALL SINNERS PDF Print E-mail
fbreads Subject:  Heaven Rejoices

SCRIPTURE:  One day when many tax collectors and other outcasts came to listen to Jesus... (7) In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine respectable people who do not need to repent. Luke 15:1, 7

OBSERVATION:   Jesus knew his crowd.  He knew their hearts and what they needed to hear to give them hope.  To the Pharisees they were lost/sinners.  They themselves were discouraged and without hope.  Then Jesus of Nazareth came with a new teaching of God's mercy, forgiveness and grace.  They heard that even the angels in heaven rejoiced more for them when they repented than those who did not need to repent.  Wow!  Of course all are sinners.  And in one view, the Pharisees are more in danger of losing their souls than are the tax collectors and other outcasts.
APPLICATION:  Through the years I have met church members who needed a lot of humility.  They did not have a humble and contrite heart.  They forgot their own shortcomings and that they too were sinners in need of God's forgiveness and grace.  They also had lost a passion to lead the church to seek out, find and save the lost.  Most church members have few if any worldly friends.  All they have are friends who are also believers.  I have a heavy burden for the members of my family who are not saved.  I also have a heart for our church to reach out to those who have given into the world.
PRAYER:   O Lord, give me passion for all lost souls.  Lead me to lead your church in effective evangelism.  Amen!!

WHERE IS GOD'S KINGDOM PDF Print E-mail
fbreads Subject:  Within Our Hearts

SCRIPTURE: "Some Pharisees asked Jesus when the Kingdom of God would come. His answer was, "The Kingdom of God does not come in such a way as to be seen.  No one will say, "Look, here it is!' or, "There it is!'; because the Kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:20-21

OBSERVATION:   When we love, honor, obey, serve God, there is God's Kingdom.  The Kingdom is first of all a state or a condition in our minds and hearts and souls.  It is what is inside of us that is wholly surrendered to God.  It is only after we have established His Kingdom inside us, that His Kingdom can be made known in the world for all to see.  That is a place/a life/a home/ a marriage/a church where God fearing people live lives that honor God, in which we obey and do everything He has said and commanded us to do.

APPLICATION:  When I love God first, then I love others, as well.  When I honor God in my heart, then I honor Him in my life day by day by day.  His Kingdom is like a heaven in me that transforms the whole "loaf" that is my life in the world.  Because I have been transformed on the inside, I then transform my world in such a way that honors God.  I obey God in my heart before I obey God in my life.  Justifying Grace lays the groundwork in my soul for God to work in His Sanctifying Grace.  Glory!

PRAYER:   I love You Father in my heart and in my living - my doing - my saying - my being in every way possible for me.  Amen!!

WORSHIP PDF Print E-mail
fbreads Subject:  Power of the Spirit

SCRIPTURE:   "But the time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God's Spirit people will worship the Father as he really is, offering him the true worship that he wants. 24 God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship him as he really is."
John 4:23 & 24

OBSERVATION:    God is Spirit.  He is not a physical being limited to one place.  He is present everywhere and He can be worshipped anywhere, anytime.  It is not where we worship that counts, but how we worship.  Our worship ought to be genuine and real.  We ought to seek the Holy Spirit's help.  The Holy Spirit prays for us when we worship, teaches us how to worship, leads us in worship, reminds us that the Father loves us so very much and that we, as loved children. ought to worship Him in spirit and truth freely.

APPLICATION:   I love to worship God with the family of God.  I love to worship Him at home in my study, out in the woods on a trail, on my boat fishing, as I lay in bed, as I work in the yard - in my flowers.  I love God so!

PRAYER:   Help me with Your Holy Spirit to worship You with true worship!  Amen!!
