 Subject: Holy SpiritSCRIPTURE: For this reason I remind you to keep alive the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead the Spirit fills us with power, love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 OBSERVATION: How do we keep alive the gift that God gave, which is His very own Spirit? The answer is that we stay connected to God every day. We live a life of Piety. We fill our days with the Means of Grace: 1.) time with God 2.) Prayer 3.) Scripture 4.) fellowship with members of God's church 5.) give a percentage to God 6.) Service using the S.H.A.P.E. God has given us and 7.) Worship. God fills us with His Spirit when we ABIDE in Him. His Spirit gives us POWER to do anything He wants... LOVE for God and our neighbors...SELF-CONTROL which is letting God have control of our lives. This is a wonderful GIFT of God. APPLICATION: I am often humbled by the thought that the Holy Spirit of God is in me, this very weak clay pot full of cracks and weaknesses and sin. Yet, I am also covered in the "blood of Christ", and am continually forgiven and remade and renewed by God. PRAYER: O Lord, I thank You for the Gift of Your very Spirit and the Means of Grace that help me to keep Your Spirit! Amen!! |
